هل أختار الحشوة المعدنية أم التجميلية؟

هناك مواد متعددة تستخدم في حشو الأسنان، ولكن أكثرها استخداماً هي الحشوة التجميلية أو المعروفة بالحشوة البيضاء (composite) والحشوة المعدنية أو الفضية (amalgam)

مميزات الحشوة التجميلية:

١. لونها يطابق لون الأسنان (إذا تم اختيار درجة اللون المناسبة من قبل طبيب الأسنان)، ولهذا فهي الاختيار الأنسب للأسنان الأمامية.

٢. لها خاصية الالتحام بالأسنان، ولهذا تتطلب حفر كمية أقل من السن لوضع الحشوة كما أنها تقوي السن بسبب هذا الالتحام.

٣. قد تكون حل أقل تكلفة من الوجوه الخزفية أوعدسات الأسنان اللاصقة المصنوعة من البورسيلين (porcelain veneers or lumineers) في معالجة الكسور و تغيير شكل ولون الأسنان الأمامية.

ولكن هذه الحشوات:

١. أكثر تكلفة من الحشوة الفضية.

٢. قد لا تتحمل الضغط خاصة في الأضراس الخلفية عندما يفقد جزء كبير من السن (بدأت هناك تقنيات وخامات جديدة تمكن طبيب الاسنان من استخدامها لتحمل الضغوط على الدروس)

٣. عمرها الافتراضي تقريبا ٥ إلى ١٠ سنوات، بعدها قد يتغير لونها أو لون أطرافها و يعود التسوس حولها وتحتاج إلى التغيير.

٤. قد تسبب تحسس أو انزعاج في الأسنان خلال الأسبوع الأول من حشوها إذا كان التسوس عميق.

مميزات الحشوة المعدنية:

١. أقوى من الحشوة البيضاء وتتحمل الضغط في الأضراس الخلفية بشكل أكبر.

٢. عمرها الافتراضي قد يصل من ١٥ إلى ٢٠ سنة.

٣. أقل تكلفة من الحشوة البيضاء

مساوئ الحشوة المعدنية:

١. لونها لا يناسب لون الأسنان، فلا تستخدم في الأسنان الأمامية.

٢. قد يتغير لون السن إذا كانت الحشوة كبيرة أو لون اللثة إذا كانت ملامسة للحشوة فيصبح لونها رمادي.

٣. تحتاج إلى حفر كمية أكبر من السن لوضع الحشوة.

هل هناك مخاطر من الزئبق عند استخدام الحشوة الفضية؟

أكدت إدارة الأغذية والأدوية الأمريكية (FDA) وجمعية طب الأسنان الأمريكية (ADA) أن الحشوة الفضية تعتبر اختيار سليم لحشو الأسنان دون أي مخاطر على الطبيب أو المريض. فالزئبق الموجود فيه يعتبر أقل بكثير من الموجود في مياه الشرب والأطعمة التي نتناولها كالأسماك كما أنه مختلط مع مواد كيميائية أخرى كالفضة والنحاس ليكون خليط متجانس وغير مؤذ.

كيف أحافظ على حشواتي لمدة أطول؟

١. أنظف أسناني مرتين في اليوم بفرشة ناعمة ومعجون يحتوي على الفلورايد وأستخدم خيط الأسنان.

٢. أزور طبيب الأسنان بانتظام لفحص الحشوات الموجودة والتأكد من سلامتها.

٣. ألتزم بتعليمات طبيب الأسنان إذا نصحني بعدم الأكل على الأسنان المحشية بحشوة فضية لمدة معينة بعد حشوها.

٤. إذا شعرت بأن الحشوة مرتفعة أخبر طبيب الأسنان بذلك حتى لا تنكسر مع مضغ الطعام.

٥. إذا لاحظت تغير في لون السن حول الحشوة البيضاء أستشير طبيب الأسنان عن الحاجة إلى تغيير الحشوة.

٦. إذا نصحني طبيب الأسنان بضرورة تلبيس الأسنان  الضعيفة( عمل طربوش) والتي تحتوي على حشوة كبيرة فعلي المبادرة إلى ذلك حفاظاً على الحشوة والسن من الكسر.

طبيب الأسنان هو أفضل من يحدد نوع الحشوة المناسبة لكل مريض، حيث عمق التسوس وصحة الفم لهما دور مهم في اختيار نوع الحشوة.

تعرف على تبييض الاسنان المنزلي :

دعونا نتكلم عن تبييض الاسنان المنزلي والذي يتيح للشخص تبييض اسنانه على فترات متفاوته تبعا لوقته ورغبته في البيت ولكن على طبيب الاسنان ان يجهز له ما يساعده على ذلك...دعونا نشرح بالصور :)

في البداية: نحتاج الى عمل قالب للاسنان ليستخدم في تكوين قالب مصبوب يمثل شكل اسنانك

 

 

2  - هذا هو شكل المسحوق(بودرة) التي ستستخدم لصناعة قالب اسنانك .

 

 

3 - سيقوم الطبيب باضافة الماء للمسحوق وخلطه في ثواني اثناء مشاهدة المريض لذلك .

 

 

4 - سيقوم الطبيب بصناعة القالب في دقائق .

5 - ذلك هو شكل القالب لأسنانك بعد دقائق معدودة .

 

 

6 - في تلك الاثناء يقوم المريض بتنظيف اسنانه وفمه بالمضمضة ويرتاح قليل .

 

 

7 - في المعمل يقوم الفني بصب (جبس من نوع خاص ) في القالب لعمل مقاس لأسنانك .

 

 

8 - لا داعي للانتظار حيث انه يوجد انواع من الجبس تتصلب بعد مرور 7 دقائق فقط .

 

 

9 - بعد الانتهاء من عمل مقاس لأسنانك , يتم صناعة ما يسمى بالواقي (الحامي) الليلي للفك العلوي والسفلي مصنوع من مادة البلاستيك الشفاف . هذا الواقي هو ما سيتم استخدامه لعملية تبييض الاسنان داخل الفم . ويعتبر الواقي مطابق لشكل الاسنان بحيث انه شفاف ولا يظهر للناظر ان هناك شيء غريب في فمك 

 

 

10 - ذلك هو شكل الواقي المصنوع من البلاستيك .

 

 

11 - يتم استخدام مادة التبييض ( هيدرجين بيروكسيد بتركيز 15%) وتلك المادة تباع فقط عن طريق اطباء الاسنان واللتي ممكن بسهولة وضعها داخل الواقي واستخدامها طبيا داخل الفم في المنزل قبل النوم .

 

 

12 - يفضل وضع كمية بسيطة على الوجه الداخلي للواقي البلاستيك مع عدم الاكثار من المادة حتى لا تصل الى اللثة مسببة هياج والتهاب اللثة .

 

 

13 - صورة توضح شكل الواقي بعد وضع مادة التبييض واستخدامه داخل الفم .

 

 

14 - قم بتنظيف اسنانك وقم بتنشيفهم جيدا .قم باستخدام الواقي وجل التبييض بداخله . يفضل ان تقوم بالاحتفاظ به داخل فمك لمدة لا تقل عن 4 ساعات ولن توجد اي فائدة اذا استمر الواقي داخل الفم اكثر من ذلك حيث سيكون الجل قد تم امتصاصه . وتعتبر اسهل طريقة لعمل ذلك هو استخدامه قبل النوم

Scientists reveal why more women suffer from TMJ disorder :

More than twice as many women as men suffer from temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis. However, the mechanismunderlying this significant sex difference is still not fully understood by specialists. Now, a team of Chinese researchers has suggested that oestrogens could worsen the condition.

In the study, researchers at the Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology treated five groups of female rats with 17β-estradiol, one of the most important natural oestrogens, at a dosage of 0, 20 and 80 μg/day, respectively.

They found that the sex hormone increased cartilage degradation and subchondral bone erosion of the temporomandibular joint in a dose-dependent manner. In addition, they observed that it up-regulated a number of genes that induce programmed cell death.

The findings suggest that certain oestrogens could aggravate temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis, which may be an important mechanism underlying the sexual dimorphism of the disorder.

The study, titled “Estrogen aggravates iodoacetate-induced temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis”, was published online on 9 August in the Journal of Dental Research ahead of print.

What is the turnaround time?

What is the warranty coverage?
Both dentist and patient ordering a Snap-On Smile® hereby understand that a Snap-On Smile® is a custom-made appliance and therefore is not returnable for a refund at any time. It can be remade at no additional cost to patient up to 60 days of fabrication.

What foods should can be eaten while wearing a Snap-On Smile®?
Patients are not limited to what they can eat and drink with their Snap-On Smile®; however, they may choose to start with a softer diet and work their way up to harder more substantial foods. We do advise that, like everything else, it takes some getting used to.

How long are they expected to last?
3-5 years the same as any removable partial denture or appliance, i.e. brux guards, night guards, etc. We do advise care as needed.


What do you clean them with?
Patients need to remove and clean their Snap-On Smile® after meals and before sleeping. To obtain best results all new patients receive the Snap-On Smile® Ultrasonic Cleaner along with our Cleaning Solution, Anti-Bacterial GEL, and proper care instructions to take home with them. Patients can also clean using a soft toothbrush. Patients should always maintain normal oral hygiene for their natural dentition. 

Can you sleep with them on?
Yes! One of the indications for Snap-On Smile® is that it can be used as a brux guard. So, if have permanent restorations like veneers and want to protect them while you sleep, you can use your Snap-On Smile®. For normal dentition, we DO NOT recommend sleeping with your Snap-On Smile® in place.

How will they be able to acquire the desired shape?
We recommend that the dentist use different tools available to decide the best shape and shade. One resource that we can recommend is the Vita Shade Guide (for Shade) and the Smile Style Guide (for Shape).

How can we ensure that Snap-On Smile® does not make the teeth appear bulky compared to the natural teeth?
In some cases the teeth may feel bulky but appear to look natural as they would if wearing veneers or a partial denture. The up side is that it gives just about any patient a cosmetically enhanced smile. 


Can the bite change over time?
It depends on the patient. The occlusal holes placed at the posterior from the pre-molar to the 2nd molar help maintain the patients existing bite. If there is a slight increase in occlusion, it is minimal at most.

How thick can they go and how thin can we make them?
They can be a thin as .5mm to as thick as 1. mm. or more.

How does it attach?
Snap-On Smile® uses the natural curvature of your teeth to hold in place (due to the material's flexibility) by utilizing the heights of contour of each individual tooth.


Does new dental restorations require re-contouring of the Snap-On Smile® appliance to fit the newly restored arch after being fitted and wearing the appliance? How difficult is this?
NO! Snap-On Smile® appliance does not affect new or existing dental restorations. It adapts and is fitted over it as if it were your natural teeth. This material has a unique memory effect, so it causes excellent retention.
Being that Snap-On Smile® resin does not effect, scrape, crack or chip existing restoration it will adapt by utilizing the contour of the crown or veneer that same way it adapts by utilizing natural dentition.

Can you wear them everyday? Will it break or tear?
Snap-On Smile® can be worn everyday, all day. We suggest that the patient removes and cleans the appliance before going to bed unless the dental professional advises the patient to wear it while sleeping due to bruxism.
It will break if enough force is placed on the appliance. Special care is required just like any other dental appliance. The specially formulated resin gives it its long lasting use.


Is it heat tolerant?
Yes, it can tolerate heat up to 200’ C.

Does it maintain its color?
Yes. It is made out of a non-porous, microfilm material that does not allow anything to adhere to it. It is non-toxic and hypo-allergenic. The crystallized resin has the ability not to imbibe any food debris, bacteria, or discoloration. Smoking, consuming red wine and drinking coffee will not be a problem.

What are the care instructions?
Remove the appliance and brush it before bedtime. You do not have to soak the appliance over night with cleaning solution. We recommend a Snap-On Smile® Care Kit.

What are the care instructions?
Before bed time or after meals, brush with a soft toothbrush. Evenings, use the Ultrasonic Cleaner along with our Cleaning Solution and Anti-Bacterial GEL. Diet drinks vs Cocaine !!!

Diet drinks as bad for teeth as crack cocaine

Heavy consumption of diet fizzy drinks can damage teeth as badly as methamphetamine or crack cocaine.

That’s according to a new study in which Dr Mohamed Bassiouny, a professor of restorative dentistry at the Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, said: ‘You look at it side-to-side with “meth mouth” or “coke mouth”, it is startling to see the intensity and extent of damage more or less the same.’

Methamphetamine, crack cocaine and fizzy drink – sweetened or not – are all highly acidic and can cause similar dental problems, Bassiouny said in a study published in the journal General Dentistry.

The acid in soda is in the form of citric acid and phosphoric acid, Bassiouny said.

In his study, he found that a woman in her 30s who drank two litres of diet drinks daily for three to five years experienced tooth rot and decay similar to that suffered by a 29-year-old methamphetamine addict and a 51-year-old habitual crack cocaine user.

Methamphetamine and crack are known to ravage the mouths of users, and the two drug abusers needed all of their teeth extracted.

Besides exposing teeth to damaging acid, these illegal drugs reduce the amount of saliva in the mouth, providing less opportunity for the acids to wash away. The drugs also cause systemic health problems that affect dental hygiene. Previous studies have linked ‘meth mouth’ with rampant decay.

تعرفي على العلاقة بين سقوط الاسنان وسرطلن الثدي !!!

علاقة سقوط الأسنان وأمراض اللثة بسرطان الثدي...

أوضحت دراسة سويدية حديثة أن السيدات اللاتي تعانين من سقوط الأسنان وأمراض اللثة أكثر عرضة للإصابة بسرطان الثدي بمعدل 11 مرة من نظيراتهن ذوات الأسنان الصحية.

وأشار الدكتور نايجيل كارتر المدير التنفيذي للمؤسسة البريطانية لصحة الأسنان إلى ضرورة إجراء مزيد من الدراسات لإثبات تلك النتائج التي تقدم لأول مرة قائلا إذا ما أثبتت دراسات مستقبلية أخرى صحة الصلة بين فقد الأسنان ومرض سرطان الثدي فسيتطلب الأمر زيادة الوعي العام به لأن هذه النتائج تقدم دليلا آخر عن العلاقة بين الصحة العامة وصحة الأسنان.

وأضاف كارتر أن أفضل طريقة للوقاية وعلاج أمراض اللثة هي إزالة أي صفائح من بين الأسنان بتنظيفها مرتين في اليوم لمدة دقيقتين بمعجون أسنان غني بمادة الفلورايد كما أن المرء يحتاج لتنظيف ما بين أسنانه بفرشاة أو خيط الأسنان وهي المنطقة التي تتسبب في أمراض اللثة مؤكدا أن الزيارات المنتظمة لطبيب الأسنان تساعد في الكشف المبكر لأمراض اللثة حيث يجب الإسراع باتخاذ اللازم لمعالجة أي مرض فيها.

واللافت أن أمراض اللثة تتطور دون ألم ولا يوجد طرق كثيرة لاكتشاف مشاكل اللثة عند بدئها إلا أنه يمكن اكتشاف التهابات اللثة بتحول لونها للأحمر وتورمها وسهولة وكثرة نزيفها إضافة إلى وجود مذاق سيىء بالفم يتسبب برائحة كريهة مع فقدان الأسنان وعدوى متكررة فالإنسان يفقد أسنانه بسبب أمراض حولها أكثر من مرض تسوس السن نفسه.

يذكر أن أمراض اللثة تنشأ عن بكتيريا في لوحة الأسنان ومع تطور المرض تفقد العظام التي تدعم الأسنان كثافتها ما يتسبب في تخلخلها وإذا لم تتم معالجة المشكلة قد ينتهي الأمر بسقوط الأسنان.

وكانت أبحاث سابقة قد أثبتت أن إصابات الفم يمكن أن تؤثر في كثير من المناطق الأخرى بالجسم متسببة في إضعاف الصحة العامة فالبكتيريا تنتقل من الفم إلى مجرى الدم لدى الأشخاص الذين يعانون من أمراض اللثة لتزيد من مخاطر أمراض القلب وهو ما ينطبق أيضا على مرضى البول السكري إضافة إلى أن مرضى اللثة أكثر عرضة للإصابة بالسكتة وعدوى الصدر كما أن السيدات الحوامل يتعرضن للولادة المبكرة وينجبن أطفالا ناقصي الوزن سبع مرات أكثر ممن لا تعانين من أمراض اللثة.

يعتقد البعض بشكل خاطئ ان تنظيف الاسنان من الجير يسبب تخلخل او حركة في الاسنان خاصة اثناء تنظيف القواطع السفلية وذلك معتقد خاطئ حيث ان في حالات تراكم الجير الكثيرة وانحسار وتأكل كمية كبيرة من العظم تكتسب الاسنان ثباتها من تراكم الجير حولها والذي يعمل كطبقة اسمنتية وبعد تنظيف ذلك الجير ترجع الاسنان لطبيعتها بحيث انها تكون منفصلة وغير متصلة بألاسنان الاخرى فيبدأ المريض بالاحساس بالحركة او اللخلخة ولكن هذه الأسنان تعود لوضعها الطبيعي في الحالات الغير متقدمة وبعض الحالات تحتاج لتدخل لتثبيتها .

اما في حالة تركت تلك الاسنان فأن كمية الجير سوف تزيد حتى يفقد المريض اسنانه السفلية مرة واحدة
